Summer Chorus
Originally a separate program of Side by Side dating back to 2001, Summer Chorus is now the summer session of Flint Hills Masterworks Chorale, generally 8-9 weeks long. It typically offers shorter works and a mix of music, often including several lighthearted pieces. Selections from past summers have included a West Side Story medley, the Three Minute Messiah, and such delights as "Do you carrot all for me" (My heart, it beets for you).
Rehearsals for Summer Chorus are generally in June & July
on Tuesdays at 7pm
at First Lutheran Church, 930 Poyntz Ave
culminating in a concert at a local retirement home.
There is a small registration fee for singers.
Summer Chorus conductors have included Reg Pittman and currently Pamela Kempton, with guest conductor Alex Trout. Pianists have included Bill Wingfield, Amanda Arrington and SongHwa Chae.
