"NOVEMBER" by David Mamet
November is a satirical comedy set in the Oval Office just days before a presidential election. The incumbent, President Charles Smith, is facing a dismal reelection campaign with low approval ratings, dwindling funds, and the looming threat of nuclear war. Even his staff and wife are preparing for defeat.
However, President Smith isn't ready to concede. A seemingly minor public relations event - pardoning a couple of Thanksgiving turkeys - unexpectedly inspires him to take drastic, and often absurd, measures to win back public support.
Using his characteristic no-holds-barred style, Mamet delivers a scathingly hilarious look at the world of American politics and the extremes people will go to in order to secure a win. The play touches upon themes like questionable pardons, campaign contributions, civil marriages, and Native American issues.
Performance date: TBD
